Good point Mr. Schnick! You lead by example, and if you can't do the job don't pretend to be the one leading the team!

Thanks Todd. I had way too much fun preparing for, making, and following up on the calls! I had truly forgotten how much fun I was having as a rep!

Bill,

As you said, "Go make some sales calls.". I've been selling and delivering Sales Process Engineering services to sales VPs for 13 years now, and the BEST part of the job is still the making calls part.

The saddest (most morale/productivity killing) thing I see is the Sales VP or Director or manager who hasn't made a solo call in years. We get rusty when we don't practice. We can't effectively coach when we're rusty.

Ergo... Go make some sales calls!

Unbelievable! Bad enough cutting in line at all, but they didn't even have the guts to do it themselves? On top of that, the kids get a nice lesson in how to cheat and a greater expectation for unearned entitlements. Disgraceful.

That said, Mama's really IS awesome!

Thanks, Todd. I encouraged the reps to be very honest about that last question, and it was extremely helpful to see that while many reps scored themselves high on each area, many of them had a big disconnect between that last question and their other answers! In short, all reps need help in at least one area, and managers and trainers need to tailor their training accordingly. Bill

Bill - Excellent list! The "Bonus Question" is particularly good. It forces a level of introspection and self-evaluation that's not always natural for sales pro. - Todd

Great points, Todd! So, from your perspective, those middle third folks really are the most impacted by management turnover. I have to agree. Thanks for commenting! Bill
